Healing Pain With Sound Waves.
Los Angeles, CA – Composer, Howard Richman and music therapist, Judy Nelson have written a dynamic new book and CD that offers an innovative method to help alleviate pain through sound healing. Their approach combines the unique strength of sound healing and guided imagery to influence the biological triggers that release chronic pain. SOUND HEALING: Ease Chronic Pain, an Innovative Approach to Relaxation, Self-Reflection, and Pain Release. The book/CD is published by STC/Abrams Books, $17.95. (Click here to purchase for $10.95)
Many people are now actively seeking various alternative therapies for pain because of safety concerns associated with certain pain medications. Sound healing is considered an ideal complement to traditional therapies for pain as it is non-invasive and has no side effects.
“I’d like to try this with my chronic pain patients,” says Teresa M. Andreoli, Psy.D, Psychotherapy Pain Management, Brain Therapy Center, Westlake Village, CA.
“I had major surgery due to an old injury that would not heal or allow me fall asleep. I couldn’t even begin my physical therapy because the pain was unbearable. After listening to your CD the very first time, I was able to sit and stand up straight AND take deep breaths all without pain. Minutes later, I was dancing and days later I began my physical therapy. Thank you Howard and Judy for making it possible to ‘ease my chronic pain’ quickly and without drugs,” Sun Rose, North Hollywood, CA
“I can tell you that nothing I’ve ever done before that has moved me to such a clear experience of knowing my physical tension/blocks,” says Lori Landau, MFT.
Soraya Newell, Retired English Teacher, Los Angeles, CA, says “The musical notes were the Q-tips, slowly, carefully washing off the marks of the pain that had built up like years of dirt.”
Howard Richman, M.F.A., is a pianist, composer, music teacher, and sound researcher. He has been blending his advanced music training and intuitive awareness to create healing music since 1982. Judy Nelson, M.S., CCC-SLP, MT-BC, is a board-certified music therapist and speech-language pathologist, and has been teaching meditation and stress management techniques for over a decade.
Richman’s original piano music incorporates enTRAINment transition principles that first reflect the current pain level and gradually guide the listener towards physical and emotional relaxation and pain release. Nelson leads the listener through gentle breathing and mental exercises designed to enhance the experience.
The CD includes the sound healing and the guided imagery components. The book provides background information on sound healing, detailed listening suggestions, how to create your own healing music, even if you’re not a musician, other self-help options, extended references and exercises on keeping your journal of your progress.
Ease Chronic Pain is now available at bookstores nationwide, including Barnes & Noble, Borders and Amazon.com.
