With GFL, You send a one-time gift of cash to your host. You are now eligible to receive cash gifts of that amount from others. You relinquish your first gift that you receive to your host. Then you keep all the gifts that you receive thereafter. If you receive a gift that is higher than the amount that you have qualified for, you still will receive the portion of that gift for which you are qualified and the rest will go to your host, or the host above them who is qualified for the higher amount.
