About Michael Cooke
 Michael has over 25 years experience teaching acting and comedy improvisation for professionals, non-professionals, and students. He has instructed and coached groups and individuals in Acting/Improvisation and in Audition technique. In conjunction with his teaching, Michael Cooke is an actor and performer with years of experience acting in theatre, episodic television, television commercials, and feature film. Michael has worked with such directors as Adam Rifkin, Bob Rafaelson, Paul Verhoeven and David Lynch. Michael has a B.A degree from Columbia University, New York, N.Y. He studied acting privately with Peggy Feury. He studied voice and speech with Elizabeth Wilmer, London, England. Michael also plays and performs jazz piano. Shakespeare Performance Workshop — “Shakey Willy”
 Either you hated Shakespeare or were afraid of his cadence and words because of being forced to study him. Most likely, your memory is being chained to your dingy classroom desk going over the text over and over again and not receiving or getting one word of meaning or content or fun whatsoever out of it! No one ever showed you that working on Shakespeare can be a light adventure and actually fun — which is exactly what it should be!
Michael’s Shakespeare workshop can be taught one-on-one or in a small group. His perspective is not from the point of view of a dusty pedant or scholar. Michael’s approach to reading or playing Shakespeare is whimsical and irreverent (as Will Shakespeare was himself). In this workshop you will have the experience of being able to grasp him viscerally — as in the body — through the rhythms and sounds of Shakespeare’s mutual poetry and prose. We will include some of Shakespeare’s Sonnets, and of course, references to his many plays. Improvisation also is employed as a freeing exercise in “getting the head” out of the tyranny of Elizabethan text.
